From the first inhabitants of Greece through its incorporation as a province of the Roman Empire in 196 BC, The Story of the Greeks retells as an engaging narrative the the history of Ancient Greece and the stories of its famous leaders and philosophers. In 115 lessons, we learn of the Trojan War, the Rise of Sparta, the Democracy of Athens, the Grecian-Persian Wars, the Peloponnesian War, the Conquest of Alexander the Great, and much more. We meet the good and the just; the wicked and proud: Theseus, Achilles, Lycurgus, Draco, Solon, Leonidas, Pericles, Socrates, Dionysius, Demosthenes, to name just a few.
As with the other Guerber histories published by Nothing New Press, The Story of the Greeks is illustrated throughout with famous paintings of its historical subjects, and photographs of the places it describes. The pronunciation of personal and place names are carefully marked in the text upon their first occurrence. A complete timeline of the events and persons mentioned in the text, a comprehensive Recommended Reading list keyed to the chapters, and a thorough bibliography and index rounds out the book.

New edition of The Story of the Greeks
The newest edition of Nothing New Press' reprint of Guerber's original history has seen some alteration from her text. There are: additional chapters at the beginning of the book on the rise of the Greeks from Japheth and the Tower of Babel dispersion, and the mythology of the Greeks as a corruption of the true history of the world recorded in Genesis. Numerous corrections have been made throughout the main body of the text, where needed. Additional chapters covering the important events which occurred in Judea during the reign of Alexander's generals, before the occupation by the Romans, which fulfilled Biblical prophecy, have also been included in the new edition. The timeline has been completely rewritten, as Ussher's Annals of the World, with his accurate dates, has been published since the last edition of Story of the Greeks has come out, and was an invaluable help in correcting the dates of the events recounted in this history. The Recommended Reading section has been revised, and the index is completely new.
Known for their easy-to-read style and their solid basis in Scripture, these award-winning books are fantastic additions to your home library!
